Problem
The old asphalt roof at the school had struggled for a couple of years with persistent leaks, even after several repairs making the building prone to water damage. The goal was to find a long-lasting, dependable waterproof solution that would eliminate the risk of water leaking into the school facilities.
Solution
Following a detailed survey, Spectraclad chose Restec’s FLEXITEC for its excellent overlay performance, flexibility, and long-term durability. The survey confirmed that the existing asphalt roof was in suitable condition for an overlay, removing the need for a full strip-back and reducing project time and disruption. FLEXITEC Primer was applied to the surface to ensure optimal adhesion to the existing substrate, before the seamless installation of the FLEXITEC system across the roof. The completed system provided a fully watertight flat roof, achieving all key local authority approval requirements, while maintaining the integrity of the original structure.
Result
The completed FLEXITEC installation provided a fully watertight roof, backed by a 20-year guarantee. The system fixed all previous leaks and delivered a strong solution that can handle weather-related stress and structural movement over time. Both the installer and the end-client were happy with the outcome. It exceeded expectations while remaining within budget. Now, the school enjoys a dependable, long-term roofing solution.
